Who is this for...?
The Bilateral Business Summit is designed as a forum, a platform, to enable businesses seeking to grow their international capabilities to build the networks that will assist them in succeeding with their plans.
Target audience: SMEs
Although the forum is addressed to all relevant businesses (Companies whose activities are directly linked to the core value creation process of an industry), SMEs are particularly summoned to participate as the forum will facilitate entrepreneurs to exchanging with peers and other their experiences in dealing with the challenges inherent to any internationalisation process. They will have the opportunity to talk to existing and new potential (large) customers, meet potential service partners, etc.
Contributors: the business ecosystem
The BBSS is the closest you can get to having your entire business ecosystem together in one place during 3 days. Every player in the forum has the opportunity to reap benefits:
- Multinationals: integrate regional and local value chains. Help local suppliers move abroad and foreign suppliers come close. Meet existing and potential new suppliers.
- Service providers: help existing customers by including them in the international setting. Have them exchange information with other entrepreneurs. Meet potential new customers. Promote themselves.
- Governments, associations, IPAs, cluster managers, chambers of commerce: link with counterparts from the other side of the Atlantic. Explore cooperation channels, help members and affiliates in their internationalisation process.
- Academia, R&D, "idle" talent: exchange with entrepreneurs, establish cooperation channels, find a job, etc.

History
The Bilateral Business Summit Series (BBSS) started in 2011 as a yearly meeting executed in two chapters, one in Europe and one in North America respectively. The project was brought to life by ProMéxico with the goal to establish a business platform for SMEs from both regions in order for entrepreneurs and executives to meet with large corporations, governmental and non-governmental institutions and any other entity interested in investment and commercial activities among these regions. The design of the event includes presentations, panel discussions, workshops and dynamic topic corner discussions as well as plenty of opportunities for bilateral meetings and networking.
The project started, as many do, relatively small. Having one Chapter in Dresden and one in Querétaro, the intention was to make participation accessible. In 2012 the scope of the Summit evolved, we included the German-speaking region (DACH) and Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). Over 550 unique people from 15 different countries attended the event! The goal for the 2013 edition is to continue expanding by including further European as well as Central and North American countries.
